3 MINUTE READ ON MAKING MISTAKES, TAKING RISKS AND SPENDING YOUR TIME WISELY

Here is something to remind yourself, a quote that I loved and a question to ask yourself for this week…

Something to remind yourself…

“Stop worrying so much about getting things wrong. Success has nothing to do with perfection, so stop being nervous, raise your hand, use your voice, get it wrong, learn from your mistakes and keep moving on. And don’t worry what other people think. It doesn’t matter. I’m 50 years old now and nothing anyone said to me when I was young that was negative, matters. It doesn’t matter. So be brave, use your voice, ignore the doubters, and work hard, because life is hard work. Don’t be afraid of it. Just do it. ” Words of Michelle Obama to live by.

Fear keeps us safe; it’s a warning signal from our survival instinct, but we have to judge whether the fear we feel is reasonable. What could really happen? Do you feel fear because the situation is actually life-threatening or is it about fear of what someone thinks of you, which may really feel frightening, but is not literally a matter of life or death. When is fear a good counselor (when a situation is life-threatening) and when is it not (in almost all other cases). Instead of automatically listening to your fears and allowing them to control your decisions, ask yourself: is this a well-founded fear or is this just nonsense? When does fear help you and when does it keep you stuck in the same place? This is a very important difference. The next time you feel fear of change, know that this is a natural and helpful emotion, but it doesn’t always fit the situation. What can really happen? Worrying about “what will happen” and feeling excited about “what will happen” is a matter of mindset. It is a choice you can make.

Remember,  If you don’t do anything, it sure as hell isn’t going to be a success. And yes, if I do try to do something, there’s the risk of failure, but it’s 100% certain that it’ll be a wonderful adventure. And if life has taught me anything, it’s that every endeavor that starts off with “F*ck it, let’s just do it!” weirdly enough usually turns out to be a success. Dreams are often so much more realistic than you think; you just have to have the courage to pursue them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

A quote that I loved…

I want to be like a sunflower so even on the darkest days I will stand tall and find the sunlight.

A question to ask yourself…

What if you stopped looking for new things to do and new experiences to have and simply spend more time on the things that already make you happy?

Have an amazing week!

Kelly
