Happy Life newsletter talking following your dreams and more

3 MINUTE READ ON FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS, SAVING YOURSELF AND FINDING YOUR PASSION

Here is something to remind yourself, a quote that I loved and a question to ask yourself for this week…

Something to remind yourself…

Last week I heard Will Smith talking about following your dreams: “You can’t get advice on what you should do with your life right? Nobody knows what you are. Like even sometimes you don’t really even know what you are. You gotta take your shot and it’s like as much as you want people to agree, and you want the people around you to be supporting your dreams, it’s not gonna be like that all the time. You gotta do it alone and people will help you and when you get the ball rolling, people will jump on. But if you don’t believe, nobody else is going to believe. Following your dreams is a lonely solitary scary dangerous pursuit.  You can’t wait for somebody to think you can do it. You gotta be fearless. You gotta be relentless.”

I.

One of the easiest things you can do is to stay exactly where you are. If you are who you want to be and you are living the life you want, I would definitely recommend you keep doing that. But what if you have dreams? What if you feel trapped in the space between who you are and who you want to be? What if you want to do things differently? Maybe you only want a small change. Maybe you have bigger desires. The fact is that more people choose the uncomfortable known than the comfortable unknown. Well, this job may not be what makes me happy, but I make a living. Well, this relationship isn’t what I want, but what if I wind up alone forever? We choose comfort and safety over happiness. Because it’s nice to be in a situation that is familiar and comforting. At least then you know exactly where you stand. But also know the price that you pay: your happiness.

II.

Too many people say that they have dreams and passions, but don’t dare to pursue them because they’re afraid of failure. Or people who give up too quickly because they failed once. It’s such a shame, because hey, that’s life! Nobody knows how to do everything in advance, without ever having done it. Nobody can achieve anything without occasionally falling flat on their face. So yes, you will encounter setbacks, you will fall. That’s precisely how people learn and grow and eventually achieve what they want. The low points eventually lead to high points. And because of those lows, you will appreciate the highs all the more. You know, if I don’t do anything, it sure as hell isn’t going to be a success.

A quote that I loved…

Nobody is coming to save you. Get up.

Bruce Lipton

A question to ask yourself…

What job wouldn’t feel like working and is that something I can work towards?

Have an amazing week!

Love,
Kelly
