3 MINUTE READ ON THE 5 SECOND RULE, WORK ETHIC AND GROWTH

Here is something to remind yourself, a quote that I loved and a question to ask yourself for this week…

Something to remind yourself…

Love the way Mel Robbins knows how to make things simple like getting yourself to do something that you don’t feel like doing. She calls it ”the 5 second rule. In this video she explains: “You know what you should do, but you don’t feel like it. Why don’t you just count backwards and see what happens? Like NASA launches a rocket. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. And that’s what I did. And I haven’t looked back. I don’t give a f*ck how stupid you think this is. I want you to try it. I want you to share it with people. Because interrupting the patterns of thought and behavior that are holding you back and pushing yourself to take action or to think something different, it is the only way you are going to change. The single most positive and effect tool is the 5 second rule. Because it is simple, you remember it and it immediately interrupts the negative ideations that torture people.”

I.

A good work ethic is the only road to success. Ideas are worthless unless you’re willing to work for them. Many people want the dream. Only a few are willing to put in the effort. Want to have more energy? Go to the gym. Do you want a good relationship? Be attentive to your partner. Do you want a happier life? Then work on your mindset every single day. Do you want a great career? Then get to work. Put in the work and get the results! In the end, no one but you is responsible for your work ethic and self-discipline but you. Don’t feel like it? Use the 5 second rule to interrupt the thoughts that are blocking you and get going!

II.

Consider self-discipline to be a form of self-love, because it enables you to do what is good for you and helps to get rid of things that aren’t. The road to long-term happiness can be reached by challenging yourself. Having a good work ethic may not be the easiest way, but it is the one where you can best exert control. And in my opinion, a more joyful life is well worth that effort. Just remember: We don’t always get what we deserve, but fortunately, we do often get what we’re willing to work for.

A quote that I loved…

You do not just wake up and become the butterfly. Growth is a process.

A question to ask yourself…

What area in your life do you want to develop? Are you willing to put in the work?

Have an amazing week!

Kelly
