3 MINUTE READ ON MENTAL STRENGTH, CLOSING THE GAP AND CHECKING IN WITH YOURSELF.
Here is something to remind yourself, a quote that I loved and a question to ask yourself for this week…
Something to remind yourself…
I love listening to Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast and I think his conversation with Dr. Ramani was so interesting. She said: “The less healthy the personality the less flexible that it is. So very healthy people have extraordinary flexible personalities. The core of mental health is flexibility. It’s almost like physical health right? A person who’s physically healthy has a lot of flexibility in their muscles and joints. A mentally healthy person has a lot of flexibility in their psyche. How do we define flexibility in our psyche? I would say, it’s an adaptability. It’ a self-awareness and awareness of others. It’s the ability to engage in novel problem solving and not get stuck on a singular solution. It’s the capacity to be able to self-regulate and to self soothe. When there’s disappointment, there’s the capacity to cope with it. That’s the core of health.” I think that’s such a profound way of explaining what mental strength truly is.

I.
“It’s all a matter of mindset” has become a bit of an empty catchphrase. But what exactly is your mindset? And how can you use it to your advantage? Compare it to a healthy diet. A daily serving of two fruits and three vegetables is healthier than not eating that. And if you work out at the gym every day, you’ll be in better shape than if you’re a couch potato. Imagine what would happen if we start training our operating system – our brain, in other words – in boosting our happiness levels? Yes exactly, we’d become happier! And this is precisely what my books are about. Helping you feel your best so you can better handle whatever life throws at you.
II.
Important note: suppressing your emotions doesn’t make you stronger. On the contrary, ignoring your emotions makes you extremely vulnerable. It means you can be triggered by anything and everything; it makes you very unstable. Strong people are actually the ones who are in touch with their emotions. Being sensitive and daring to be vulnerable – now that’s a superpower. If you don’t acknowledge the emotions associated with everything that has happened in your life, you are in fact not acknowledging a part of yourself. If you want to be yourself, you must stop hiding in every possible way.

A quote that I loved…
At some point you gotta be real with yourself about the gap between the life you want to live and the life your daily habits are leading you towards.
– Michell C. Clark
A question to ask yourself…
If I listen carefully to myself and my body, what do I need right now and how can I give myself exactly that?
Have an amazing week!
Love,
Kelly
